Installation successful, game wont launch from apps

#1
Hello, need some advice as im having problem launching games after install.

So I installed Medal of Honor Warchest by the instructions, after install clicked on Exit and every time Wineskin shows up and tells theres some error because of directory or something, although its correct. This is same for Heroes of Might and Magic IV and Age of Empires II. What I am doing wrong?

Here are screens:

BTW, if i dont exit installer after its finished and click on launch - games would always start and work properly, just have to reinstall every time in order to be able to play, a bit annoying.

Hello kirby,

Your screenshots aren''t opening here Sad

Could you please confirm if the error you see is this one:
- "Medal of Honor Warchest main EXE couldn''t be found!"

If it isn''t, could you please check which is the error? I suppose the main exe path may be wrong based in your description of the problem, or maybe some flag has changed for Medal of Honor Archest and Heroes of Might and Magic IV.

Now, the Age of Empires II one is bugging me. Is it the HD edition from Steam or the regular edition from the CD?

Hey, hey! Thanks for response.

Yeah, i tried putting screens in different ways, they wouldnt show up, these are 3 direct links to images if you copy/paste it to your browser.

Nope, it doesnt say that. It (Wineskin) says “no new executables found. Maybe the installer failed…? … All software must be installed on C drive." (Which like i said was correct by default install directory)

It’s not AOE II HD, it’s the first, original version of AOE II which was required in order to install AOE II The Conquerors.

You shouldn''t be installing the game throw Wineskin, but throw the Porting Kit itself. Porting Kit requests the game installer during the port creation process (unless it is in your Downloads folder; in that case it run it directly). Haven''t you installed the game during that step?

Thats exactly how I did it. Porting Kit => Library => Mohaa Warchest => Install (opens window to browse for setup) after selecting Moh Warchest setup opens install wizard that you can see from one of screens.

That Wineskin window opens right after i click Exit the moment installation is complete. If you try it does not show up like mine does? I suppose after successful install Exit means closing window and nothing else.

As I said before, these links aren''t working. I tried with 3 different computers Tongue

It shouldn''t open. The most probable reason is that the game main exe path changed. I will inform that to Paul.

Yeah, then it could be it. Although I used to be a windows guy and all this is still quite chinese for me - I thought it was weird the first time I installed the game. Basically it opens Wineskin error window right after successful install Exit or if you launch the game - it just opens wineskin to search for install setup.

The error in the first image shouldn''t happen if you install the game throw PK when it asks for an installer instead of using Wineskin to install. In case you already installed with PK, you don''t need to install it again. If you have installed you should have received an alert telling you that the main exe path is incorrect. Is that right?

Sorry to ask, but is this installer original? In case it''s, have you downloaded it recently from GOG.com? Its just that this installer look a bit different from GOG.com regular installers, and the destination path of the installation shown in image 3 is completely different from the ones used by GOG normally.

I''m downloading the installer to test if the path has changed.

Nope, it’s pirated, from TPB, same as Heroes M&M IV, although they were labeled as GOG versions. Sorry i didn’t realise there could be more than one GOG version.

It tells there’s already installed game in same path - asking to replace or change directory.

I''m sorry, but we can''t give support for installing a pirated copy of a game which is still for sale in digital copies...
